University of Alabama Gymnastics and the Homewood Patriot Marching Band lost their biggest fan when Beverly Ann McFee Jones passed away November 22nd following a 2 year struggle with breast cancer. Born on St. Patrick's Day 1950 to renowned United Methodist pastor Dr. E. L. McFee, Jr and his wife Mabel, Beverly spent her early childhood in Goodwater and Roanoke, AL, before moving to her beloved hometown of Athens, AL. Always the teacher's pet, Beverly graduated from Anniston High in 1968 and moved to Birmingham to attend Birmingham-Southern College. Apart from spending one year in Tuscaloosa to earn a Masters degree, acquire a husband, and see the first concert Elton John ever played in the state of Alabama, she stayed in Birmingham the rest of her life. Beverly spent 36 years working with emotionally conflicted students at UAB and Birmingham City Schools and somehow still had time to take care of her husband and 3 children (as well as all the other children who lived on South Forrest Drive) and keep up with every soap opera on tv. She is survived by her husband of 42 years Thermon C. Jones, Jr, a retired educator and amateur genealogist, of Homewood; her son Chris, a handsome nonprofit manager, and his gorgeous wife Valerie, both of Cahaba Heights; her daughter Jennifer, a nurse and fitness aficionado; her son-in-law Mike McKenzie (a firefighting fitness aficionado), of Helena; her daughter Amy, a preschool teacher/grammar enthusiast, of Homewood; and her beloved granddaughter Emma Madison McKenzie, of Helena. - See more at: http://obits.al.com/obituaries/birmingham/obituary.aspx?n=beverly-ann-jones-mcfee&pid=182716358&fhid=8342#sthash.ZMO2irVl.dpuf
