Emily Davis Williams was born on December 1, 1920 and lived a long and independent life up to the age of 96.

She graduated from Woodlawn High School and married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Harry Boyd Williams. They would have been married 76 years in May. During her life she was a devoted Sunday School teacher of the 3 year old class at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, where Mr. Williams also served as a Deacon. Throughout her life, she was an active volunteer in many organizations including the Samford Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, Columbiana Culture Club, Dawson Memorial Baptist Women's Auxiliary and later at Meadow Brook Baptist Church. After her son graduated from high school, Emily returned to work as an Executive Assistant at Jackson Realty Company where she worked until she retired.

She was the epitome of a Southern Lady, generous to a fault and always ready to assist a friend. She enjoyed a rich, active life with family and friends.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her son Boyd Williams (Carol); her grandchildren David Williams and Ellen Reynolds and her great grandchildren Annaleese, Christian, Lucy Kate, and Rhys Williams and Carter Reynolds.

A reception will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, beginning at 12:30 p.m. CST until 2:00 p.m. CST. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. CST in the chapel. Burial for Mrs. Williams will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Emily Williams may be made to Meadow Brook Baptist Church.
