Jack Raymond Wallace, age 76, of Birmingham passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 surrounded by his family. Jack was born on September 25, 1940 in Columbus, Mississippi and was the first son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hobson David Wallace. Jack served in the United States Navy and retired as Chief Warrant Officer in 1980. He was a decorated officer, and was awarded many medals including an achievement medal for his superior performance of duties in the USS Canopus. Jack Raymond Wallace, age 76, of Birmingham passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 surrounded by his family. Jack was born on September 25, 1940 in Columbus, Mississippi and was the first son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hobson David Wallace. Jack served in the United States Navy and retired as Chief Warrant Officer in 1980. He was a decorated officer, and was awarded many medals including an achievement medal for his superior performance of duties in the USS Canopus. After his retirement, Jack pursued a Business Degree at Western Carolina University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He enjoyed a second career as a comptroller until his final retirement in 2005. Jack was a true family man and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his daughters and grandchildren. He also loved socializing and playing golf with his friends.

Jack is survived by his daughters Melinda Wallace, Katherine Melvin (Peter) and Sarah Hart (Brian); his grandchildren William Melvin, Bradford Hart, Jack Melvin and Gracie Hart and his brothers Joe Wallace (Jennifer), Stan Wallace (Patsy) and Tommy Wallace.


The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. with funeral service following at 12. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Millport, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Jack Wallace can be made to the Jimmie Hale Mission.
