Joan Woolf Perkins, age 87, passed away peacefully and in the company of loved ones on October 10. She will always be remembered by all who knew her as the kindest of souls. Throughout 87 years of courage, even facing hardships such as none would ask to bear, her smile radiated the light of Loving awareness. Her humor and true friendship was unwavering - her quiet, giving spirit a tower of strength, especially in times of need.

Joan Woolf Perkins, age 87, passed away peacefully and in the company of loved ones on October 10. She will always be remembered by all who knew her as the kindest of souls. Throughout 87 years of courage, even facing hardships such as none would ask to bear, her smile radiated the light of Loving awareness. Her humor and true friendship was unwavering - her quiet, giving spirit a tower of strength, especially in times of need.
Joan grew up in Anniston, daughter of Roy and Mariola Woolf. She was a member of the DD Club during her high school years and graduated from Anniston High. At the University of Alabama she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, was named Dream Girl of Pi Kappa Alpha and graduated with a BS in Child Development, Home Economics.
She taught at Highland's Day School from its inception until she took time off for her children in the mid70's. She was a devoted Mother and gave generously to many local organizations.
She is survived by her children, Nathaniel Jr., Michael, and Chris; son-in-law Chad Griffith; grandchildren Cole, Aaron and Corey Griffith; her beloved Elizabeth Njoroge and her beloved Virginia Njuguna.
Service at Canterbury Church Chapel at 2:00 with visitation at 1:00, on Friday Oct 14. Burial at Highland Cemetary in Anniston at 4:00.
Memorial donations to Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance.
